San Ginesio is a beautifully preserved medieval hilltop town steeped in history. It
proudly celebrates its medieval roots with an annual Palio and re-enactment of the 14th
century battle at the town's gates. Its numerous churches contains painting by the likes of
Il Ghirlandaio and Gentile da Fabriano. It was the birth place of the famous medieval
jurist Alberigo Gentili, commemorated with a statue in the main piazza. For all its cultural
wealth , it is still a very lively place with restaurants, bars, bakers, butchers, mini-marts
banks etc. It has several tennis courts,football pitch parks and a swimming pool. Its
commanding position has earned it the name 'The Balcony of the Sibillinis'. It is within
the 70 000 hectare Sibilillini National Park, home to some awesome beauty. There are a
number of ski resorts for winter sports and lakes and treks for summer excursions. It is
